Mayor John Dalipe directed the Office of the City Engineer and Task Force John Dalipe to conduct clean-up and dredging operations at the San Roque River to ensure normal water flow and prevent flooding at the airport runway.

Tons of plastic bags, bottles, non-biodegradable materials, and debris were collected during dredging operations.

Dalipe appealed to residents to cooperate by not throwing trash into the river and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

Zamboanga City International Airport operations were shut down on Jan. 10 this year after heavy rain flooded the runway of the airport.

This was the first time that Zamboanga City airport operations were shut down due to heavy rain and a flooded runway.
