Police seize P524K illegal drugs in QC


The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confiscated a total of P524,640 worth of illegal drugs and arrested 17 suspects in a series of buy-bust operations in the city on Saturday, Feb. 4, and Sunday Feb. 5.

The QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4) seized around 50 grams of alleged shabu valued at P340,000 and collared two suspects in a buy-bust operation launched in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City on Saturday.

Lt. Col. Jerry Castillo, PS 4 commander, identified the suspects as Gerald De Leon Maladaga, 40, of Barangay Balingas, QC; and Orlando Catanao, 43, of Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City.

Police launched the entrapment against the suspects at around 2:30 p.m. and recovered the P340,000 worth of “shabu,” a green coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, members of the QCPD District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) and the police stations of La Loma (PS 1), Talipapa (PS 3), Cubao (PS 7), Galas (PS 11), Holy Spirit (PS 14), and Project 6 (PS 15) also arrested 15 drug suspects in seven buy-bust operations in different barangays in the city on Saturday and Sunday.

They confiscated P184,640 worth of alleged shabu and marijuana leaves from the suspects.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
