An arms cache of the New People’s Army was discovered on Saturday, Feb. 4, in Barangay Santa Lucia Old, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija through information provided by a peasant leader who surrendered to the police recently.
Police unearthed a caliber .38 revolver, three bullets, and a grenade.
The grenade was turned over to the Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (NEPECU) while the gun and ammo were placed in the custody of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company for proper disposition.
Police urged the NPA in the province to surrender.
“We are calling on the remaining NPA combatants to turn themselves to the government, as they will not be able to regain their influence and control over the communities,” Nueva Ecija police chief Col. Richard Caballero said.
