3 BIFF members yield in Maguindanao del Sur


ILIGAN CITY – Three members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters yielded to the 40th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Kabengi, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Joint Task Force Central chief Major Gen. Alex Rillera said they surrendered to Lt. Col. Edwin Alburo, commanding officer of the 40th IB.

Two of the surrenderers were members of the BIFF-Karialan faction while the other was from the Bungos faction.

They handed over one 7.62mm sniper rifle, one caliber .50 sniper rifle, and one 40mm rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

Surrenderers said they could no longer bear the hunger, fatigue, and fear they encountered while evading government forces.

They are currently under the custody of the 40th IB while undergoing documentation and custodial debriefing.

Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido lauded the Joint Task Force Central for their relentless efforts to end terrorism in Central Mindanao.
