P10-M ketamine seized from Malaysian-Chinese national


PASIG CITY - A Malaysian-Chinese national was cornered and arrested for claiming two kilos of ketamine worth P10,000,000 following a controlled delivery operation at The Currency, Emerald St., Corner J. Vargas on Tuesday night, Jan. 31.

Operatives of PDEA Pampanga said the arrested claimant was identified as Thai Lian Shiong (Malaysian-Chinese ), male, 24 , and a resident of The Currency Residence, Julia Vargas, Ortigas, Pasig City.

The ketamine originated from Malaysia and arrived at the Port of Clark last Jan. 28, 2023.

“The package containing the illegal substance was concealed inside three acupoint massage twisters," said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Team leader.

The ketamine substance weighing more or less two kilos was placed inside 24 transparent plastic pouches.

“Hallucinogenic drugs po siya. It can sedate, incapacitate, cause short term memory. Ginagamit po siya anesthesia but inaabuso kadalasan," a PDEA operative told Manila Bulletin.

The operation was jointly conducted by operatives led by PDEA Pampanga, Clark International Airport Drug Inter-Agency Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, PDEA NCR, PDEA Calabarzon, NBI CELRO, NBI Pampanga and the local police.

The claimant/consignee will be charged for violation of section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165.
