K-pop group NCT 127’s repackaged album “Ay-Yo” has sold nearly 344,000 copies on the first day of release.
On Jan. 30, NCT 127 dropped “Ay-Yo,” a repacked version of their fourth studio album “2 Baddies,” which was originally released on Sept. 16 last year.
“Ay-Yo” contains three new songs including the main track by the same name.
Based on Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Ay-Yo” sold 343,844 copies on the first day of release on Jan. 30 to top the daily physical album chart with physical record index points of 355,525.
Hanteo Chart uses physical record index points, which blend album sales and prices, in ranking albums.
“Ay-Yo” has 15 tracks including 12 tracks from “2 Baddies.” The new tracks are “Ay-Yo,” “DJ” and “Skyscraper.”
The title track “Ay-Yo” is a hip-hop dance track with a core message of moving forward with intention in the midst of uncertainty, as the band continues to establish the values they carry with them.
“DJ” is a funky up-tempo track that details how the members become DJs themselves, gifting special moments with their own-selected playlists.
“Skyscraper” is a powerful hip-hop track detailing ambition, overcoming limits and climbing to the top.
With the continued participation of famous writers from the fourth studio album such as Kenzie,, Dem Jointz, Andreas Öberg, and producer Simon Petré, the album is further enhanced by the additional rapping talent of members Taeyong and Mark on “DJ” and “Skyscraper.”
“2 Baddies” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, making NCT 127 only the second K-pop artist in history to land three albums in the top five.
NCT 127 recently finished their arena tour across the US and South America. The engagements included stops across the United States, Chile, Columbia, and Mexico, as well as three back-to-back shows in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
