From cash grants to housing, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. addressed the plight and concerns of the poor after attending the 72nd anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the launch of an urban poor housing project in Quezon City.
Also at the DSWD event, the husband of Vice President Sara Duterte -- lawyer Mons Carpio -- made his first public appearance when he delivered his wife’s message, heaping praise on the agency for its “invaluable role” to empower the people.
Department of Health (DOH) Officer-in-Charge Rosario Vergeire, who has long been at the forefront of the country’s struggles against the Covid-19 pandemic, said that she was ready to be appointed as full-time DOH secretary if appointed by the President.
Marcos and Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez are set to meet with United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin who is set to visit the country this week.
