A Filipino man was shot three times by a Hong Kong police officer during a scuffle in Peng Chau on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
According to the police report, the officers received a noise nuisance report at about 10.41 p.m. at a unit on Wing On Street, Peng Chau.
A 43-year-old Filipino reportedly assaulted the cop “with his hands, pushed him down a flight of stairs, chased him, and attempted to assault him again” during the noise complaint investigation.
“Facing threats to life, the male police officer gave verbal warnings to the foreign man but in vain and subsequently fired three shots at him,” the police report added.
The suspect was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital after sustaining shot wounds to his hand and abdomen.
In a South China Morning Post report, the Philippine consulate said the Filipino man was “out of danger” after undergoing surgery.
Meanwhile, another 33-year-old foreign man also allegedly obstructed and assaulted another cop with his hands. His nationality was not disclosed.
