ILOILO CITY — A soldier wanted for killing a relative was arrested in Jamindan town, Capiz province on Monday, Jan. 23.
Authorities identified the suspect as Staff Sergeant Jomarel Verde Vacaro, a member of the Philippine Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion (12 IB).
The 35-year-old soldier was arrested by the Jamindan Municipal Police Station by virtue of a January 18, 2023 warrant issued by Judge Judith Tonogbanua of Regional Trial Court – Branch 20 in Mambusao town.
The soldier allegedly killed his relative, Arnulfo Mendoza Vacaro, last year while they were having a drinking session.
The soldier has been granted a P120,000 bail for his temporary liberty while awaiting trial.
