Man wanted for robbery killed in shootout with QC cops

A man wanted for robbery was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Quezon City on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) identified the suspect as Dennis dela Pena of Barangay Pasong Tamo, QC, tagged as No. 7 most wanted person of QCPD Holy Spirit Station (PS 14).

The operatives went to Diego Silang Street in Barangay Pasong Tamo at around 2:48 a.m. on Tuesday to serve a warrant of arrest against the suspect for robbery issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 96 Presiding Judge Guieb Sio Primo Jr.

Police said the suspect drew his handgun and fired shots at the police officers. The cops fired back, killing him.

Members of the CIDU and the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered the suspect’s .38-calbier revolver with a cartridge case, four bullets, and four fired cartridges.

“Ikinalulungkot ko na humantong pa sa pagkamatay ng suspek ang insidenteng ito, kaya muli kong pinapaalalahanan na sumuko nang maayos at huwag nang magtangkang lumaban sa mga pulis upang maiwasan at hindi na maulit ang ganitong pangyayari (I am saddened that this incident led to the death of the suspect, so I remind to surrender properly and try not to fight the police in order to prevent this kind of incident from happening again),” QCPD Director Nicolas Torre III said.
