Lanao del Norte town coconut festival returns after 2 years


ILIGAN CITY – Residents of Linamon, Lanao del Norte burst with joy as the ‘’Hudyaka sa Lubi’’ coconut festival returned after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic on Monday, Jan. 23, during the 63rd founding anniversary of the municipality.

Contingents wearing traditional costumes from eight barangays competed in the festival dance competition, festival queen, and street dancing contests.

The contingent from Barangay Samburon Robocon bagged the P70,000 grand prize in the festival dance competition. Barangay Poblacion was second and earned P50,000, and Barangay Bosque was third and won P30,000.

The candidate of Barangay Samburon was crowned Hudyaka sa Lubi Festival Queen and was also named Miss Photogenic, Best in Production Number, and Best in Festival Costume.

Vendors, like Jessel Mae Ladion who peddles ice cream with his partner, were elated by the return of the festival which enabled them to earn more income.

Linamon Mayor Randy Macapil thanked barangays and stakeholders for making the festival successful.

This year's festival theme was “Ipadayun ang panaghiusa...dugang kalamboan, makab-ot ta!”
