Yuka Saso carded an eagle-aided 2-under-par 70 in the final round to finish at joint sixth place in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Florida Sunday, Jan. 22 (Monday in Manila).
After shooting an eagle 3 on the second hole, the 21-year-old Fil-Japanese briefly stumbled with a bogey on the par-4 seventh before picking up her pace with three birdies in the next eight holes.
The 2021 US Women’s Open champion then fumbled with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 16 and 17 to finish with a four-round aggregate of 280, eight strokes behind eventual champion Brooke Henderson.
Saso had earlier rounds of 70, 73 and 67.
Her sixth-place feat tied her with Paula Reto and Gaby Lopez, pocketing $56,117 (around P3.05 million).
Henderson, meanwhile, shot a similar 70 marred by a single bogey against three birdies to capture a four-stroke victory.
With earlier rounds of 67, 66 and 69, Henderson finished with a 272 total ahead of Maja Stark and Charley Hull.
Stark and Hull posted identical closing-round 69s for 276.
