Young assassin nabbed in Bacolod


BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a young hitman in a pension house in Barangay 32 here on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The suspect was identified as Jonathan Divinagracia, alias ‘’Atan,’’ 21, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here.

Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of the Bacolod police, said that Divinagracia was an alleged member of a gun-for-hire group here who was tasked to neutralize suspected assets.

Gabana said the suspect was tagged in the killing of a 27-year-old man in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Dec. 25, 2021.

He was also linked to the death of a 28-year-old resident of Barangay Granada here and a 40-year-old man in Barangay 2 on Jan. 26, 2022, and Feb. 23, 2022, respectively, according to Gabana.

Gabana said the suspect’s companion was arrested by the Police Station 2 in August last year.

Divinagracia was arrested on a warrant issued by Presiding Judge Amcel Mercader of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 48 here dated May 4, 2022. The court recommended no bail for the suspect.

Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said that it took them a few months to monitor the suspect as he would transfer from one place to another.

Divinagracia is detained at Police Station 1.
