Bomb threat alarms teachers, students in QC school

Classes in an elementary school in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City were suspended following an alleged bomb threat that alarmed teachers and students on Monday morning, Jan. 23.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) deployed operatives to New Era Elementary School after the principal, Mrs. Chelma Cabatic, reported to them about the incident at around 6:30 a.m.

Police said a Grade 6 teacher received a message through an online messaging platform from one Ramon del Mundo saying “May itinanim ako na bomba sa New Era Elementary School pag naapakan ito ay sasabog! (I planted a bomb at New Era Elementary School. If it is stepped on, it will explode!).” A Grade 6 student also received the same message from an anonymous sender.

The threat prompted the school management to suspend classes.

Members of the QCPD-District Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (DECU) responded and conducted a thorough ocular inspection and search in the area.

The police later declared that there's no presence of explosives in the area.
