Aaron Velez returns to his post as the Chery Tiggo Crossovers’ head coach, the team announced Monday night, Jan. 23.
Velez will be replacing Clarence Esteban after spending the last two conferences serving as the team’s manager.
“The experienced coach is returning to take the wheel and lead the Chery Tiggo Crossovers back to the top this coming Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference,” the team posted.
Prior to coaching the team in the 2022 Open Conference where they finished eighth, Velez steered the Crossovers to their first professional volleyball title in 2021 in Ilocos Norte under the bubble type setup.
Velez is expected to have his hands full in beefing up his roster after losing star opposite hitter Dindin Manabat, who transferred to the Akari Chargers.
The Crossovers, however, recently signed Bingle Landicho, Seth Rodriguez and Ponggay Gaston.
