605 driver’s licenses suspended in Central Visayas in 2022

CEBU CITY – The Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7) suspended a total of 605 driver’s licenses last year due to various traffic violations.

Data from the LTO-7 Traffic Adjudication Section of the Operations Division showed that most driver’s licenses were apprehended in November with 91.

Thirty-three were suspended in January, 66 in February, 85 in March, 39 in April, 42 in May, 51 in June, 19 in July, 21 in August, 36 in September, 85 in October, and 65 in December.

Twenty-nine subpoenas were issued against erring drivers following complaints received by the agency.

Subpoenas are issued to violators as a notice to explain. They are given specific timeframe for them to answer the alleged violation.

LTO-7 Director Victor Caindec said the period that a driver’s licenses is suspended depends on the gravity of the violation.

Caindec warned motorists to always follow traffic rules and regulations to avoid apprehension and confiscation of their licenses.

"This serves as a warning to all motorists that we are doing random checkpoints to make sure that drivers follow traffic rules and regulations to maintain road safety," said Caindec.
