Galido takes over as chief of Western Mindanao Command


ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Major Gen. Roy Galido took over as the new chief of the Western Mindanao Command, replacing Major Gen. Arturo Rojas who has been promoted.

MGen. Galido formally assumed the position during a change of command ceremony held at the Western Mindanao Command gym on Friday, Jan. 20.

Prior to his new post, Galido served as the commander of the 6th Infantry Division in Central Mindanao.

Rojas on the other hand will assume his new position as chief of the Philippine Army’s Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

In his speech, Rojas thanked the men and women of WestMinCom for supporting his leadership.

Galido thanked former AFP Chief of Staff General Bartolome Bacaro and Defense chief Carlito Galvez for approving his designation as the new WestMinCom commander.

AFP Chief of Staff General Andres Centino presided over the change of command ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by city mayors of different provinces in Zamboanga Peninsula.
