Traffic enforcer nabbed for extorting money from Dutch man in QC


A 27-year-old traffic enforcer was arrested for allegedly extorting money from a Dutch man in Quezon City on Monday, Jan. 16.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Novaliches Police Station (PS4) identified the suspect as Ronnie Campomanes Santos, a traffic enforcer of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety (QC-DPOS) and resident of Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City.

According to the police report, Santos flagged down a Dutch identified as Marek Moens who was riding a Honda motorcycle.

Police said Santos apprehended Moens for allegedly violating a “no entry-one way” road in Brgy. Nova Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City at 1 p.m. on Monday.

The complainant said Santos demanded P2,000 from him in exchange for non-issuance of a traffic violation receipt (TVR).

PS 4 personnel immediately responded after the victim reported the incident.

Police said they recovered the victim's money from the suspect after his arrest.

The suspect was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) on charges of robbery-extortion.
