ILOILO CITY – Robbers apologized after ransacking a public elementary school in Oton town, Iloilo province on Sunday, Jan. 15.
“Pasensya na wala kaming bigas. Kami ang magnanakaw (Sorry, we don’t have any more rice. We are the robbers)," they said in an apology written on the blackboard in a classroom at the Oton Central Elementary School.
The thieves took a 21-inch Sony TV, a brand-new aircon, 12 stand fans, three wall fans, a Bluetooth speaker, as well as a volleyball and net.
“Choosy sila. Jasmine siguro ang bigas nila. Ayaw ng maliit at cheap na TV, ung Sony talaga (They’re choosy. Maybe they eat Jasmine rice. They don’t like a small and cheap TV, but a Sony,” the Oton, Iloilo: My Hometown said in a Facebook post.
Oton Mayor Sofronio Fusin Jr. has ordered the Oton Municipal Police Station to probe the incident and arrest the culprits.
Police chief Major Fernand Limbungan and the investigating team went to the school on Monday, Jan. 16, and talked with school officials. Lawmen are looking for CCTV footages in and out of the school to find the suspects.
