DND vouches for Año's capability as new National Security Adviser


Top officials of the Department of National Defense (DND) have vouched for the capability of newly-appointed National Security Adviser Eduardo Año to address the country's security concerns.

In a statement, Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez said he and the DND officials and personnel are looking forward to work closely with Año, especially in addressing the armed conflict brought by insurgency and terrorism.

Both Galvez and Año became chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines during the time of president Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Galvez served as presidential adviser on on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity while Año was named as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

"Secretary Año will undoubtedly render his decisive, informed, and pragmatic guidance to address our country’s various security concerns," said Galvez.

"The former Armed Forces Chief of Staff and Secretary of the DILG has also been a stalwart advocate of our whole-of-nation approach on national security, especially in addressing the armed conflict brought by insurgency and terrorism," he added.

Galvez also expressed gratitude to former NSA Secretary Clarita R. Carlos.

Año replaced Carlos who reportedly chose to serve in the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) of the House of Representatives.
