K-pop group NewJeans fails to return to Korea due to flight outage in US
K-pop girl group NewJeans failed to return to Korea on schedule after the massive flight delays and cancellations in the US.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that it continues “a thorough review to determine the root cause of the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) system outage.”

“Our preliminary work has traced the outage to a damaged database file. At this time, there is no evidence of a cyber attack. The FAA is working diligently to further pinpoint the causes of this issue and take all needed steps to prevent this kind of disruption from happening again,” it said.
In a notice, ADOR, NewJeans’ agency, said “NewJeans was scheduled to return to Korea after visiting overseas, but they will be unable to make it back on schedule due to massive system-wide flight delays and cancellations caused by the Federal Aviation Administration system malfunction in the United States.”
“The group therefore will be unable to participate in KBS’s Music Bank and fan signing event scheduled for January 13. The selection of the winners for the Music Bank pre-recording, which was to be announced after 12 PM today, has also been canceled, and details regarding the cancelation of the fan signing event scheduled for the 13th will be provided separately through a later announcement from the retail organizer,” it said.
According to ADOR, “We kindly ask for your understanding and apologize to all those who had been awaiting the performance at Music Bank and the January 13 fan signing event. We will do our best to ensure that the artist returns home safely.”
