CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO, La Union -- Senior police officials including some Police Lieutenant Colonels of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) got a surprise drug testing on Monday here.
The drug testing took place immediately upon signing by the two police generals and 15 police colonels of their courtesy resignation supporting the appeal made by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Atty. Benhur Abalos Jr. and Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr on all PNP full colonels and generals to submit their courtesy resignation as part of the government's efforts to rid the organization of officers involved in the illegal drug trade.
PRO 1 Regional Director BGen. John C. Chua led the whole command in signing his courtesy resignation, followed by BGen. Carlito M. Gace, the deputy regional director for administration and all other colonels.
Meanwhile, some 34 Lieutenant Colonels underwent a surprise drug test.
Chua proudly said that all drug tests yielded negative results for the use of dangerous drugs.
“This is a way to manifest our full support to our SILG and CPNP. Also, in this manner, we could prove to the people that we have a clean and clear conscience and that we are deeply rooted in the fight against illegal drugs,” Chua said.
