A total of 3,127 more people tested positive for Covid-19 from the previous week, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, Jan. 9.
The average daily number of cases from Jan. 2 to 8 was at 447, the DOH said. It noted that this was nine percent lower than the infections logged from Dec. 26, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023.
Of the new cases, only seven patients were "severe and critical," the DOH said.
A total of 507 patients with severe and critical conditions are still recuperating in hospitals. This figure represents 9.3 percent of the total Covid-19 admissions nationwide, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported that 79 more deaths were logged.
On the other hand, 73.7 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the viral disease. However, only 21.1 individuals were able to receive their booster shots.
"Pinapaalalahan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng Covid-19. Bagkus, dapat ipagpatuloy ang tamang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards (Everyone is reminded not to be complacent amid the threat of Covid-19. Instead, it is advised to continuously follow the minimum public health standards)," the DOH said.
