#WalangPasok: Classes suspended due to bad weather on Jan. 5

Classes were declared suspended by several local government units (LGUs) due to inclement weather on Thursday, Jan. 5.

Based on their respective announcements, LGUs in various areas suspended classes in public and private schools at all levels in several cities in Metro Manila which include Marikina City, Pasig City, and Valenzuela City.

Classes at all levels were also suspended in Minalin, Pampanga, and Camarines Sur. In Albay, classes were suspended in Bacacay, Camalig, Daraga, Legazpi, Libon, and Guinobatan.

In Laguna, there were also no classes in Cavinti, Famy, Lumban, Luisiana, Mabitac, Majayjay, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, and Santa Maria.

Meanwhile, classes in selected levels (preschool to senior high school) were suspended in Camarines Norte, particularly in San Vicente.

The Department of Education (DepED) on Jan. 4 said that classes were also suspended in some areas in Mindanao due to the shear line and Low Pressure Area (LPA).

As of Jan. 4, DepEd said that 42 schools were reported to have sustained infrastructure damage due to shear line and LPA. The agency said that the estimated cost for the repair and reconstruction of these schools is P409 million.
