LTO punishes jeepney driver over viral video of Parañaque road accident

The driver's license of a jeepney driver who hit a woman crossing a pedestrian lane in Parañaque City was suspended for 90 days, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said.

LTO chief Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade said the suspension should serve as a lesson to all motorists to always keep the roads safe.

The incident, which went viral in the social media, inflicted injuries to the victim.

Driver Leonilo Aque admitted during the hearing that the jeepney he was driving indeed hit a woman last month after he failed to step on the brakes on time.

Aque and the owner of the jeepney were issued a show cause order on Dec. 22, 2022, and were summoned to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on Dec. 28.
