In a Facebook post, the Ateneo Debate Society (ADS) proudly congratulated Ateneo A, David Africa, and Toby Leung, for winning the World Universities Debating Championship.

The World Universities Debating Championship, ADS said, is “one of the largest and most diverse university-level majors, hailing teams from all around the world.”

The 43rd World Universities Debating Championship was held in Madrid, Spain from Dec. 27, 2022, to Jan. 4, 2023.

According to ADS, this is the “third consecutive time an Ateneo team has made a finals appearance, and an enormous feat that no other Filipino team has succeeded in since its conception.”

ADS also congratulated the rest of the Ateneo Contingent which included Ateneo B, represented by Quintin Chua and Aly Barranda, Ateneo C, represented by Bern Advincula and Zen Tiangco, and our judges Bea Cuizon and Paolo Taino for “representing both the Philippines and the organization.”
