2 suspects in murder of woman in Baguio surrender

BAGUIO CITY – Two suspects in the murder of a woman whose naked body was found in a private compound on Aug. 30 in Barangay Alfonso Tabora, Baguio City voluntarily surrendered to the Manila Police District (MPD) on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Baguio City Police Office said they received a call from the MPD Homicide Section at 7 p.m. Wednesday informing them that Reneval N. Ponce, 31, and his live-in partner, Babylyn Salvador, 22, gave themselves up more than a week after Juliet "Shane" Hesim, 22, was found dead.

Hesim’s body was dumped in the yard of the house next to the boarding house where Ponce was staying with Salvador.

The victim’s remains were positively identified by her twin sister through her "Shane Hesim" tattoo on the left shoulder.

Police said Hesim had braces on her upper teeth, her black bra was pulled up along with a white crop top dress, and her underwear was missing along with her pants.

Lawmen added that Hesim, who was last seen alive with Ponce, had a belt tied around her neck and duct tape was used to bind her hands and cover her mouth.

Police entered the suspect's rented room on Monday night, Sept. 5, on a search warrant issued by Judge Cecilia Corazon S. Dulay-Archog of Branch 7, Regional Trial Court, here.

Found inside was a duct tape and other items that may have been used in the murder and these were taken used as evidence by the police.

Suspects were not around and according to the caretaker of the boarding house, they left on Aug. 30.
