LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office-Cordillera recorded 2,253 traffic violations in the strict region-wide implementation of ordinances on illegal parking and road obstructions from Aug. 25 to Sept. 3.
Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, regional police director, said based on the records of the Regional Operations Division (ROD), Baguio City had the most violators with 1,306; Benguet, 797; Abra, 106; Mountain Province, 18; Kalinga, 12; Ifugao, 10, and Apayao, four.
"Although we have tightened the implementation of our local ordinances, what we really want here is the cooperation of our countrymen...that they willingly obey the traffic laws to avoid being fined," Bazar said.
He reminded motorists repairing their vehicles on the highways to always use early warning devices to prevent accidents.
"Not everyone is familiar with the characteristics of our roads, besides sometimes the fog is thick so it can help prevent accidents if there are early warning devices. Then, they should immediately remove their vehicles when they are done fixing them so that they don't bother other motorists," Bazar added.
