NPA admits murdering barangay captain, 2 others in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY – The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command-Northern Negros Guerilla Front of the New People’s Army (RJPC-NPA) has claimed responsibility over the killing of a barangay captain and two other persons –Renato Estrebillo, Rodel Nobleza, and Barangay Lalong Captain Benjamin Javoc – in Calatrava, Negros Occidental in August.

Lt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said that murder charges were filed on Friday, Sept. 2, against seven NPA members identified in the killing of Javoc.
Cecil Estrella, spokesperson of RJPC-NPA, said they implemented standing orders against criminals and counter-revolutionaries in Calatrava issued by the revolutionary people’s court and people’s government.
Nobleza was the first to be killed on Aug. 7 in Barangay Marcelo after he was tagged as one of those responsible in the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ raid against the NPA in April 2019 in the area that killed their two comrades and a civilian, Estrella said.
The second victim was Estrebillo, who was fatally shot in Barangay Marcelo on Aug. 12 after he reportedly gave information to the 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) that resulted into the alleged indiscriminate firing that wounded two children and the arbitrary arrest of a civilian on July 6 in the area, Estrella said.
The RJPC-NPA on Aug. 26 meted death to Javoc in Barangay Lalong for being an active military asset mounting intelligence network within the barangay, according to Estrella.
Estrella said the NPA raided Javoc's house and confiscated an Ingram submachine gun with several ammunition, a cellular phone containing contact details of active 79th IB personnel, and six handheld radios.
Estrella said the RJPC-NPA reviewed the cases and underwent in-depth investigation before conducting the operation.
Catalogo said that murder charges were also filed against the killers of Nobleza and Estrebillo.
Mayor Marilyn Era has ordered the Calatrava Municipal Police Station to further intensify security through police visibility and checkpoints in key areas and closely collaborate with the Philippine Army and other concerned agencies to put an end to the killings of innocent civilians.
She assured everyone that the increasing number of random shooting incidents are being investigated and authorities are after the culprits.
Capt. Joseph Partidas, Isabela, Negros Occidental police chief, said that murder charges will be filed against two NPA rebels for the death of Danilo Dautil, barangay captain of Cabcab, Isabela.
Partidas said that Dautil’s gunmen were identified through a witness.
