QC police arrest over 17,000 violators in week-long anti-criminality ops

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced Monday, Sept. 5, the arrest of 17,946 violators in a series of intensified anti-criminality operations in the city from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4.

According to the QCPD, a total of 72 drug personalities were nabbed in 32 anti-drugs operations that yielded a total of P999,124 worth of alleged shabu and P11,400 worth of "marijuana."

A total of 51 violators were collared in 14 anti-illegal gambling operations that resulted in the confiscation of P8,918 bet money

Police said they have also arrested 61 wanted persons, 23 of them were tagged as most wanted, including one suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, the QCPD said that 17,761 violations of city ordinances were also recorded: 508 for smoking in public places; 39 for roaming half-naked in public; 2,667 for not wearing face masks; 9,518 for improper wearing of face masks; 524 for jaywalking; 4,211 for traffic violations; 151 for illegal vending; and 143 for specific ordinances.

It added that 16,312 violators were also warned and 1,449 others were fined.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte lauded the QCPD for their efforts in ensuring peace and order in the city.

"Kaisa niyo kami sa pagtataguyod ng tunay na pagkakaisa ng pulisya at mamamayan laban sa kriminalidad (We are with you in promoting unity between the police and the public against criminality)" Belmonte said.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III also commended his personnel for maintaining good police work and for their vigilance in keeping the streets safe from criminals
