PDEA hands out over P9M cash reward to drug tipsters

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) handed out a total of P9,684,257.86 cash rewards on Tuesday, Sept. 6, to 11 private informants for providing information that led to the agency’s successful big-time illegal drug busts.

In simple rites at the PDEA National Headquarters, PDEA Director-general Wilkins Villanueva lauded the tipsters known by their code names Dream, Indah, Aquaman, Bruno, Datu, Jojo, Mashu, Marvin, Mambo, Ali and Tin.

He said that the 11 informants were valuable PDEA assets that led to the confiscation of large amounts of illegal drugs and arrests of high-value targeted drug personalities under the PDEA Operation: Private Eye.

The PDEA “Operation Private Eye” is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

Among the informants, “Dream” received the highest amount of cash reward of P8,000,000 for giving information that paved the way for the PDEA agents to conduct four separate successful operations.

“Dream” was awarded P2,000,000 for providing information to PDEA agents which resulted to the seizure of 502,170.00 grams of shabu and the death of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Noah's Place, Barangay Libertador, Candelaria, Zambales on Sept. 7, 2021.

The informant was again awarded P2,000,000 for giving the information to PDEA agents which resulted to the seizure of 79,977.50 grams of shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Tipo Exit, SBMA, Barangay Tipo-Hermosa, Bataan on Sept. 7, 2021.

“Dream” was again awarded P2,000,000 for the tip that led to the confiscation of 179,581.94 grams of shabu and the death of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Block 6, Lot 6 Springville Executive I, Barangay Molino III, Bacoor City, Cavite on Sept. 9, 2021.

The tipster again gained a P2,000,000 reward for the information that led the PDEA team to the seizure of 239,543.83 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Parking Lot of Max's Restaurant, along Aguinaldo Highway, Barangay Salitran 2, Dasmarinas City, Cavite on Oct. 16, 2021.

“Indah” was awarded P43,366.05 for the information provided to PDEA BARMM that aided the team to confiscate 1,002.60 grams of shabu and arrest three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Poblacion, Bagay Street, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Oct. 2, 2021.

“Aquaman” was given P60,674.05 for the information given to PDEA BARMM that made the team seize 1,022.80 grams of shabu and the arrest of a drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sipangkot, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi on Oct. 29, 2021.

The agency awarded “Bruno” with P125,352.89 for providing information to the police which resulted to the seizure of 2,055.16 grams of shabu and arrest of a drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Dalagang Bukid Street, Barangay Longos, Malabon City on Nov. 19, 2021.

“Datu” got P124,339.94 cash reward for the information that aided the PDEA BARMM in the arrest of three drug personalities where 2,026.50 grams of shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Km2, Indanan, Sulu on Dec. 4, 2021.

“Jojo” was handed P56,203.57 for the tip that led the PDEA agents to arrest a drug personality and confiscate 506.08 grams of shabu in a buy-bust operation at May Inn Hotel in Kalayaan Avenue, Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City on Jan. 30, 2022.

“Mashu” was awarded P500,000 for providing information to PDEA-CAR personnel that aided them in the seizure of 109,495.35 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops and the arrest of two drug personalities during an interdiction operation at Checkpoint, Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga on Feb. 25, 2022.

“Marvin” was awarded P421,220.19 after giving information to the PDEA Regional Office-VI where they arrested a drug personality and seized 4,976.90 grams of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental on March 4, 2022.

The agency also gave P241,463.13 cash reward to “Mambo” for providing information to PDEA which resulted to the seizure of 2,993.50 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation at Unit 705 Nice Hotel, Saint Mary Street, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City on March 9, 2022.

Informant “Ali” was awarded P75,274.44 for his information to the Bontoc police and PDEA CAR which resulted to the seizure of 12,545.74 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops and the arrest of a drug personality during an interdiction operation in front of Kalley Xerox Center, Sadanga-Bontoc Terminal, Sepulchre Street, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province on April 17, 2022.

“Tin” was awarded Php36,363.60 for giving information to PDEA CAR which resulted to the seizure of 6,060.60 grams of dried marijuana leaves, stalks and fruiting tops and the arrest of a drug personality during an interdiction operation Sitio Sepulchre Street, Poblacion, Bontoc, Mountain Province on May 2, 2022.

The Operation Private Eye Rewards committee is composed of members of the academe, non-government organizations, law enforcement agencies, religious and business sectors.

They had approved a resolution granting the monetary rewards to the 11 qualified informants for the third quarter of calendar year 2022 after a series of extensive deliberation.

“Human intelligence – or HUMINT – remains a critical factor in determining success in any intelligence-based operation. We cannot thank the public enough for continuing to trust the PDEA and our partners in law enforcement and the military as we relentlessly pursue these illegal drug traffickers until our territories are finally free of the drug menace,’’ PDEA said.
