
The country recorded 1,326 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, Sept. 6, as shown in the latest data of the Department of Health (DOH).
Active cases stood at 23,272, the DOH Covid-19 tracker showed.
The regions with the most cases in the recent 14 days were Metro Manila with 9,025, followed by Calabarzon with 4,343, Central Luzon with 2,829, Western Visayas with 1,460, and Davao Region with 1,427.
The cumulative total of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Philippines was at 3,894,840, including 3,809,450 recoveries, and 62,118 fatalities.
In a related development, the DOH cautioned the public against certain illnesses that are common during “ber” months which also have similar symptoms to Covid-19.
During a press briefing on Monday, Sept. 5, DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that asthma attacks, flu, cough, and fever are common during ber months due to cold weather.
Vergeire urged the public to continue following the minimum public health standards to avoid such illnesses as well as Covid-19.
The DOH official urged the public to consult with their local health units if they have developed symptoms. It is also another way not to congest hospitals, she said.
“Our RHU, BHS (rural health units, barangay health units) are very much equipped para matingnan mga kababayan (to check our citizens) for their primary care conditions, mabigyan ng (and provide) appropriate diagnosis at management,” she said.
