BUTUAN CITY -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Northeastern Mindanao (The Caraga Region) surged to 237, the government health office reported on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
With these new positive cases, the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday appealed to Caraganons to continue observing guidance and health protocols to avert the spread of the dreaded disease.
Last week, six deaths were registered, the regional office of the DOH 13 said in a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin.
In its new cases by province and city, the DOH 13 said Agusan del Sur registered 87 new cases, Agusan del Norte 18, Surigao del Sur 37, and Surigao del Norte 10 new cases.
On the other hand, no cases were registered in the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) for the same week.
In Butuan, the region’s frontier and capital city (among the 6 cities in Caraga region), 35 new cases were recorded, followed by Surigao City with 22 cases, Tandag City with 17 cases, and Bayugan City 5, while in the cities of Bislig and Cabadbaran also registered 3 cases each, also last week.
No severe or critical cases were recorded in the 237 new Covid-19 cases logged the past week in Caraga region, the DOH 13 added.
Meanwhile, Caraga region registered 164 new recoveries last week, bringing the total number of recoveries to 58,058, it said.
The death toll from the virus stood at 2,257 including last week’s six new COVID-19 fatalities recorded in Caraga region, the DOH 13 further added.
