Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. has issued a memorandum setting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) National Educational Summit from Sept. 28 to 29.
In Memorandum Circular (MC) 2022-108, Abalos said that Synergeia Foundation will conduct the 2022 National Educational Summit in conjunction with its 20th anniversary with the theme “A Community of Mission and Action.’’
He noted that the yearly summit targets to enhance the best practices of the local government units (LGUs) in the supervision of all activities related to education.
Abalos stated that issues related to further improving the quality of education and studies to upgrade the quality of the teaching methods will be discussed with the participation of the stakeholders from the business sector.
The DILG chief stressed that the participants would include the local chief executives (LCE), members of the local school board and other concerned local officials.
He directed the BARMM minister and DILG BARMM director to appropriately inform the concerned parties, especially groups involved in the enhancement of education, of the summit to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
Abalos pointed out that the registration fees of the participants in the summit may be taken from the LGUs’ available funds but within the prescribed limits pursuant to Commission on Audit (COA) Circular No. 2012-003 and the rules governing the accounting and auditing procedures. (Chito A. Chavez)
