Taking a “hardline” stance against terrorists and criminals, Vice President Sara Duterte made her stand known once again to “not show mercy” to the enemies of the state.

Duterte, who is now the designated officer-in-charge while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is on his first foreign trips, hosted a sit-down meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the commanders of the AFP’s major services.
They were also joined by the chiefs and official representatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The Vice President said they met to strenghthen the inter-agency linkages that will beef up the country’s military defense and result to achieving inclusive development.
“Our objective was to strengthen existing coordination and enhance interagency cooperation on issues concerning our national security and the country’s development,” she said.
Duterte emphasized the state policy must be “hardline” against criminals and terrorists and those that support and espouse their ideologies.

“We should show no mercy to criminals and terrorists,” she stressed.
Duterte is the designated OIC of the Office of the President (OP) as Marcos is on state visits to Indonesia and Singapore.
She said that the Marcos’ administration is gearing towards economic revival and is “aggressively pursuing programs and projects that will address social inequities and further propel the country’s progress post-pandemic.”
Duterte also underscored that for the country to achieve economic growth, the country must first address the security challenges.
“The Philippines will only be able to truly recover and rebuild post-pandemic and meaningfully stand with honor and pride as a nation if we successfully address threats to our security,” she said.
