Stepmother who maltreated 4-year old charged with homicide in Tarlac

BAMBAN, Tarlac – A stepmother who was said to be responsible for the death of a 4-year old boy was charged in relation to a homicide that took place sometime on Aug. 17, 2022, in this town.

Major Edward Castulo, Chief of Bamban Philippine National Police, said the victim’s aunt was identified as Gemma Galang, 38, of Brgy. Anupul in this town, formally lodged the complaint against the suspect Marife Bartolay, a resident of Sitio Layak, Brgy. Anupul.

The Tarlac Provincial Police Office said that investigators found out from the witnesses that the suspect had maltreated the victim.

The incident was reported only on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022.

According to the police reports, the victim was brought to Concepcion District Hospital in Concepcion, Tarlac for medical check-up and was later on referred to Jose B Lingad Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga where the boy died while confined.
