The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over a check worth P8,223,195.60 to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as part of their small town lottery (STL) shares.

The check was personally handed by PCSO Chairman Junie Cua and General Manager Melquiades Robles in a quick ceremony on Monday, Sept. 5 held at the DOJ office in Ermita, Manila.
DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla and NBI Director Medardo De Lemos received the check on behalf of their respective agencies.
The handed STL shares are for April and May 2022, PCSO said.
In a report by the Philippine News Agency dated Sept.2, the Philippine National Police (PNP) also received an STL share from PCSO worth P11,149,559.87.
PNP Chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr., the recipient of the check, stated in the report that the amount will be allocated for the police personnel and their dependents' health services.
STL is a mass-based local lottery controlled and managed by PCSO.
Through the STL revenue, PCSO does not only assist individuals seeking medical and other assistance but also various government institutions.
Under the law, PCSO is required to allot 30 percent of its income for charity services, 55 percent for game prizes, and the remaining 15 percent for operations.
