118 cops dismissed from service in Cagayan Valley as PNP intensifies internal cleansing
CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan -- A total of 118 erring cops in this region were dismissed from the Philippine National Police service and stripped of all their benefits from the government since internal cleansing started in 2016.
Major Melchor Aggabao, Chief of Discipline Law and Order Section (DLOS), said the Regional Headquarters had the highest number of personnel discharged from the service with 44, followed by Cagayan Police Provincial Office with 19, Isabela PPO 12, Santiago City Police Office 10, Nueva Vizcaya PPO with 2, Regional Headquarters Support Group with 6, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5, Quirino PPO 2 and Batanes PPO with only 1.
DLOS record shows that five policemen were involved in illegal drugs but majority of them were dismissed after being found guilty of Grave Misconduct and Grave Neglect of Duty (absent without official leave) while others were dismissed for conduct unbecoming of an officer.
Police Regional Office 2 Regional Director Brigadier General Steve Ludan stressed that the dismissal of PNP personnel was the result of the strict implementation of the intensified PNP internal cleansing in Cagayan Valley Region since the start of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration to reform the PNP and make it more accountable and credible organization.
“This is a clear manifestation that we are serious in our desire to cleanse our ranks in the PNP and we do not tolerate any member of the Valley Cops who violate the law and get involved in any irregularities and illegal activities,” RD Ludan said.
