After the resounding success of “Maid in Malacanang” where Cesar Montano has received high praises for his exemplary acting as the former president Ferdinand E. Marcos, the actor-director expressed his desire to field his latest movie, “The Blood Brothers” as an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Based on the book written by Ronald Adamat with the same title, “The Blood Brothers” is directed by Cesar Montano, who also acts in the film along with Victor Neri, Alan Paule, Alex Vincent Medina and introducing Adamat who is also a co-producer.
The movie tells of Philippine history before Islam came in and is being told in the perspective of two brothers and how the education of the other drove a wedge between them but served as a catalyst to their cultural differences. According to Montano, this project was borne out of his most meaningful visit to the municipality of Upi in Maguindanao where he met Adamat.
Cesar’s movie comeback was met with resounding success, thanks to the genius of director Darryl Yap and the confidence of Viva big boss Vic del Rosario, who handpicked Cesar for the role of FEM, no less, believing that no one can truly pull it off except him. And boy, was he proven right!
Cesar tells us how happy he truly is that the cinema is back. He is geared towards acting and directing more movies in the future. “I missed it,” he said.
At the same time, everything in his personal life seems to be coming up roses. He says, “this is the happiest I have been as a father. Masaya ako kasi lahat ng mga anak ko nakakasama ko in one occasion, like my last birthday, at magkakasundo sila. Masaya ako na nagkaroon na ng kaayusan lahat ng mga gusot in the past and we’re all just moving forward peacefully and lovingly together.”
Cesar also thanks the mothers of his children for their help. “Masaya talaga ang nagkakasundo-sundo. In God’s perfect time talaga, He makes everything brand new,” he said meaningfully.
