ILOILO CITY – With more distribution sites across Western Visayas, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6 was able to distribute cash aid to 11,248 indigent students on Saturday, Sept. 3.

“We added more payout sites in the provinces so it was easier for students and the turnaround time is shorter,” said May Rago-Castillo, DSWD-6 information officer.
The DSWD-6 was able to disburse P32.6 million to the recipients that already had a schedule for the payout on Saturday.
Unlike in the past two distribution days, there were no major incidents as the payout was more organized and systematic in the identified additional payout centers.
This city and Iloilo had the largest disbursement with P12.1 million for 3,936 student-beneficiaries.
Negros Occidental and Bacolod City were second with P8.47 million for 2,793 student-beneficiaries.
The DSWD-6 also disbursed P4.15 million for 1,526 student-beneficiaries in Aklan; P3.5 million for 1,334 in Antique; and P1.16 million for 457 in Guimaras.
The DSWD-6 strictly implemented the no walk-in system to expedite release of money. Only those who received text or e-mail messages were catered.
