'Our facilities are always welcome to help you'
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Noli Eala has reassured that the government agency will continue to support the UAAP, especially in hosting its facilities for certain events, during a courtesy call Thursday, Sept. 29, at the PSC Chairman's Office in Malate, Manila.

UAAP Executive Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag and Season 85 President Aldrin Suan, CM, attended the said courtesy call as Eala expressed his excitement for the upcoming season which kicks off Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Mall of Asia Arena with the men's and women's basketball tournaments on the line.
"I'm excited. Ang tagal na nating na-miss ang UAAP with all the drums," said Eala. "(Last season), I watched the last few games of Ateneo, the last few games of La Salle, and the Final Four. I just haven't watched the championship kasi I was out of town."
That said, Eala furthered that he's "very happy to support the UAAP" and that the facilities "are always welcome to help you."
Most likely for Season 85, with the opening of other sports as well such as athletics, for instance, the PhilSports Track and Field Oval in Pasig will be available for the first semester while the Rizal Memorial stadium will be open for football for the second semester.
Though final venues have yet to be announced, the Philsports Arena, a PSC facility in Pasig as well, will host the first men's hoops quadruple-header with some playing dates waiting for finalization.
Eala, upon request of Fr. Suan, said he is set to grant the venue as well for the UAAP volleyball season over the weekends.
Saguisag, for his part, expressed glee that a simple courtesy call turned out to be more than just that and gratitude to the new PSC chairman.
"Siyempre nakakatuwa 'yung expression of support, but then again, more than that is 'yung just sitting there, listening to him, and just like picking his brain automatically. It took us almost two hours. And that's what happens when you share a passion with someone," said Saguisag.
"I'm happy kasi regardless of what we agreed in principle today, 'yung communication lines are open. Whether we settled it here or not yet, at least alam ko na at alam niya, na we're just a text away."
