The Malabon City government said on Friday, Sept. 30, that its City Health Department (CHD) has intensified efforts to administer Covid-19 vaccines to its residents in support of the Department of Health’s (DOH) “PinasLakas” booster vaccination program.
The “PinasLakas” program aims to inoculate around 70 million Filipinos with their Covid-19 primary and booster doses by the end of October for protection not just for themselves but also for those who are around them. It was launched in the city last July 26.
“As we recover from the pandemic, we strongly encourage everyone eligible in Malabon to do their part to keep themselves and their loved ones better protected from Covid-19. Keeping our communities safe against Covid-19 is a collective effort and I thank all those who have already completed their vaccination for helping keep our city safe and healthy” Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
The city government said it targets to vaccinate 201 senior citizens with their second Covid-19 jabs. The CHD has been conducting “door-to-door” vaccinations for the elderly and individuals with comorbidities to get their Covid-19 jabs without the need to leave their homes.
Sandoval has also been urging the residents to get vaccinated and get boosted since the usage of face mask outdoors and in open spaces was made voluntary by the national government.
The local government said the CHD strategically placed vaccination sites in areas with high foot traffic and also in places close to residential areas, targeting 58,125 of its eligible population to get their first booster shots.
Eligible residents can visit the city hall every Friday or get their Covid-19 jabs inside the malls, health centers, plaza, and public market, it added.
The CHD also partnered with schools and private businesses to set up vaccination sites to encourage students and employees to get their booster shots
There are also vaccination sites in transport terminals, Bahay Pag-asa, Bahay Sandigan, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Malabon, the city government said.
