STL workers receive aid in charity event in Cebu

CEBU CITY – At least 100 Small Town Lottery (STL) workers received various goods during a charity drive on Wednesday, Aug. 31, spearheaded by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Ako Bisaya party-list, and Saturn Gaming N' Amusement Corp in Cordova, Mactan, Cebu.

Distributed during the event in a compound in Sitio Close Roads in Barangay Poblacion were bags of rice, noodles, and canned goods.

“The beneficiaries are our ushers, coordinators, and runners,” said Nap Lachica Jr., operations manager of Saturn Gaming Corp.

Janette Pasicaran, monitoring and coordinator officer of Saturn Gaming Corp., said the event is actually a monthly activity of the company.

“We call this ‘Sharing Blessings Across Community.’ Aside from distributing rice, canned goods, noodles, we also provide medical assistance and burial assistance not just to our workers but also to their relatives,” said Pasicaran.

With the help of the PCSO and Ako Bisaya, Saturn has made the charity activity province-wide.

“We see to it that we assist our ushers, coordinators, and runners especially those who are really in need,” added Pasicaran.

Before Cordova, Saturn was also in Dumanjug, Cebu where it held a feeding program.

Boxes of milk and school supplies were given to at least 120 children, said Pasicaran.

“We also conduct capacity trainings on disaster preparedness, basic life support in barangays of Cebu’s various towns. This is all part of our Community Service Program,” said Pasicaran.

Saturn has also provided assistance to residents badly affected by typhoon “Odette” last year.

“This is our way of thanking those who patronize legal numbers game and we encourage the people to continue supporting legal STL operators only,” said Pasicaran.

Pasicaran pointed out that Saturn is the only corporation authorized by PCSO to operate STL in Cebu.
