QCPD arrests 24 suspects in series of anti-crime operations

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the arrest of 24 persons in a series of anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality operations in the city on Friday, Sept. 2.

QCPD police stations launched six anti-illegal drugs operations, resulting in the arrest of 14 suspects and the confiscation of P139,400 worth of alleged shabu.

QCPD La Loma Station officers identified four of the suspects as Rose Evangelista, 30; Lino Nambatac; 39, both residents of Barangay Tatalon; Edgarzo Azamza, 55, of Barangay Masambong; and Bal Galanta, 55, of Barangay Talayan, all in Quezon City.

They were arrested on Don Pepe St. in Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Quezon City at about 7 p.m. on Friday. Recovered from them were 0.50 grams of alleged shabu worth P3,400, playing cards, and bet money amounting to P300.

Talipapa Police Station personnel collared one suspect in a buy-bust operation at Ilalim ng Tulay, Brgy. Balon Bato in Quezon City at around 4:45 p.m. on the same day.

The QCPD said the suspect, identified as John Mark Aganan, 22, of Brgy. Balon Bato, Quezon City, yielded more or less two grams of shabu valued at P13,600, one coin purse, one cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Another buy-bust operation launched by Cubao Police Station cops on Oxford St. in Brgy E. Rodriguez, Cubao at around 1:30 p.m. led to the arrest of Diether Blancia, 26, a resident of Brgy. Socorro.

More or less 10 grams of suspected shabu valued at P68,000, one yellow coin purse, and the buy-bust money were seized from the suspect.

Operatives of Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station also arrested Marvin Jarillo, 28; Jimwell Karl Lazarte, 23; and Daniel Annang, 25, in an entrapment operation at Bicol Extension, Barangay Payatas at about 11:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rovered from them were one gram of alleged shabu valued at P6,800, a coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

The buy-bust operation conducted by Pasong Putik Police Station on Consolacion St. in Sitio Aguardiente, Brgy. Sta. Monica, Novaliches led to the arrest of John Carlo Munda, 27; Roy Garcia, 42; and Leo Salazar, 49; all residents of Brgy. Gulod, Novaliches, at about 11:00 p.m.

Around five grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000, one coin purse, a cellphone, and the buy-bust money were confiscated by the police.

Meanwhile, members of the Galas Police Station also arrested July Azuro, 39, of Brgy. Doña Imelda, Quezon City, and Princess Joy Sernio, 34, of Manila in another sting at about 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 03.

Confiscated from the suspects were more or less two grams of shabu valued at P13,600, a cellphone, and the buy-bust money.

The suspects will be charged for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The La Loma Police Station, meanwhile, nabbed three persons for violation of PD 1602 or the Anti-Gambling Law at 7-A Christine St., Parkway Village, Brgy. Apolonio Samson in Quezon City around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 2.

"Patuloy po ang lokal na pamahalaan na makikipagtulungan sa ating kapulisan tungo sa pagkakaisa, kapayapaan at kaunlaran ng lungsod Quezon (The local government will continue to cooperate with our police towards unity, peace and development of Quezon City),” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said as she expressed her gratitude to the QCPD police officers.
