442 families affected by ‘Karding’ in Cabanatuan receive aid


CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Four-hundred forty-two families affected by super typhon “Karding” here received relief goods from SM Foundation through SM City Cabanatuan and SM Megacenter on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Mauro Magtoto, assistant mall manager, said SM provided immediate relief assistance through its “Operation: Tulong Express” (OPTE) program to the families evacuated at the Lazaro Francisco Integrated School from Barangays Isla, Rizdelis, Matadero, Nabao, Sta. Arcadia, Sumacab Norte, San Josef, and Bonifacio when Karding battered the province on Sunday.

Magtoto said SM urges everyone to extend a helping hand to those greatly affected by the tropical cyclone.

“This effort forms part of OPTE, a social good program of SM Foundation in collaboration with SM Supermalls and SM Markets to address the immediate needs of communities during calamities and crisis. We will continue to monitor the situation and heed the call promptly where we can. We believe that through our concerted hard work, we can help our fellow Cabanatuenos and other nearby communities to best of our efforts,” Magtoto added.

SM has been providing flood-safe parking spaces and temporary shelters for victims of calamities in various malls nationwide. Charging stations are available to the public in malls when there is no electricity.
