LUBUAGAN, Kalinga -- A farmer who attempted to transport P2.6 million worth of dried marijuana was intercepted at police checkpoint at Sitio Dinakan, Barangay. Dangoy, Lubuagan in this province on Thursday, Sept. 29.
Ersilias Maccay Baccoy, 36, a farmer, and a resident of Barangay Butbut Proper, Tinglayan, Kalinga, was arrested at a checkpoint as he tried to transport a sack of marijuana from Tinglayan to Tabuk City.
According to Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), personnel of Lubuagan Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) carried out the operation after receiving an information about the suspect who was on board a motorcycle.
The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the confiscation of 22 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops weighing more or less 22,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price of P2,640,000.
Inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Bernadette Malayo, DOJ representative, Janette Alagao, media representative, and Kagawad Edna Taotao of Barangay Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga.
