LPA east of extreme N. Luzon may develop into tropical depression

A new low pressure area (LPA) inside the country’s area of responsibility will likely develop into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday morning, Sept. 28.

The next tropical cyclone name on PAGASA’s list is “Luis.”

The LPA was last seen 1,240 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, according to the 5 a.m. weather advisory of the PAGASA.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance has no direct effect on the country, as of Wednesday.

However, its trough or extension may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” may continue to affect the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA warned against possible scattered to widespread flooding or rain-induced landslides during moderate to heavy rains in Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
