Foreign envoys sympathize with Filipinos, send help after 'Karding'

Foreign envoys based in Manila have expressed their sympathies to the Filipino people following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding and assured that their governments are willing to assist those in need.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian said in a Facebook post Tuesday night that his heart and thoughts are with those affected by Karding as he also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of five rescuers who died in line of duty in Bulacan.

"As neighbor, friend and partner, China always stands ready to help the Philippines and hope an early recovery of the affected areas," Huang said.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Manila helped in the delivery of food packs and shelter tarpaulins to those affected by the super typhoon in Central Luzon and Region 4A by providing trucks.

US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson said the US stands "ready to work with the Philippine government and our partners to assist in the recovery."

British Ambassador Laure Beaufils said UK stands in solidarity with the Philippines after Karding's onslaught while Japanese Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko called on Filipinos to "hold on together in these tough times."

Australian Ambassador-designate to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu also assured the Philippines that it is ready to support Manila's recovery efforts.

"Australia sends its heartfelt sympathy to the communities affected by Karding. We are saddened by the loss of lives and stand ready to support recovery efforts in the affected areas," she said in a tweet.
