DSWD extends over P22.7-M worth of relief aid to typhoon victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has so far provided over P22.7 million worth of food and non-food items as resource augmentation to local government units (LGUs) that have been affected by typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

In a statement on Wednesday, Sept. 28, the DSWD said its field offices have also provided P2.7 million cash aid under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

About 475 families in Aurora province and 69 households in Quezon province, whose houses were partially damaged by the onslaught of typhoon Karding, were given P5,000 each as financial assistance.

One household in Kabayan town, Benguet province, whose house was totally damaged by Karding, was provided P10,000 cash aid.

The DSWD said it airlifted and delivered family food packs and other relief items in hard-to-reach areas in the province of Quezon and other remote communities affected by the typhoon.

Meanwhile, it expressed gratitude to water concessionaire Maynilad for donating about 1,500 pieces of bottled water, which will be distributed to the hard-hit areas in Aurora and Quezon.

The International Organization for Migration also donated some 3,000 pieces of tarpaulins to be delivered to the communities in San Fernando City in Pampanga and Real in Quezon.

The DSWD has over P103.01 million quick response fund available at the Central Office, and P43.08 million available at the Field Offices I, II, III, 4A, 4B, V, National Capital Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, other DSWD Field Offices have standby funds worth P40.33 million.
