Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives arrested 26 people, including 10 security guards and two women, who allegedly entered and illegally occupied a warehouse in the city on Monday, Sept. 26.
QCPD director Brig. Gen Nicolas Torre III received a report at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday from Mr. Rex Martin Anonas, San Miguel Foods Inc. Division Security and Safety manager, about a group of armed men who occupied their warehouse on Consul St. in BBCHAI Subdivision, Barangay Greater Fairview.
The suspects also forced the caretaker of the warehouse to leave.
The QCPD director and members of the Fairview Police Station (PS 5) immediately went to the warehouse and arrested the suspects
Police confiscated six shotguns, the service firearms of the security guards, 16 pieces of ammunition for a 12-gauge firearm, security logbooks and uniforms, and some personal belongings of the suspects.
According to the QCPD, the cops found out that the arrested individuals were also the same group who entered and occupied a private property on Regalado Avenue in the said barangay last Aug. 28.
The arrested suspects will be charged with grave coercion and trespassing before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
“We found out that these individuals are licensed security guards under Performwell Security Agency Inc., kaya naman (that’s why) we will also file an admin case in Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) para ma-revoke and kanilang lisensya (for their licences to be revoked),” the QCPD director said.
“Gayunpaman, ginagawa lang po namin ang aming tungkuling ipatupad ang batas nang walang kinikilingan, mayaman man o mahirap (However, we are only doing our duty to enforce the law without taking sides, rich or poor). We will not tolerate illegal occupants in private properties,” he added.
